A Step Further is the fourth album by the band Savoy Brown. It was released by Decca in the . and by Parrot in the . This is the last album recorded with long time pianist Bob Hall. The album track "Made Up My Mind" had first appeared as the B-side of the US single release on Parrot Records 45-40039 (released June 1969), fronted by "Train to Nowhere", from their album Blue Matter.

Blue Matter is the third album by the band Savoy Brown. Teaming up once again with producer Mike Vernon, it finds them experimenting even more within the blues framework. Several tracks feature piano (played by Bob Hall, guitarist Kim Simmonds, and vocalist Chris Youlden, who even plays guitar here) as well as trombone. This album featured a mix of live and studio recordings.

A Step Further/Blue Matter. A Step Further/Blue Matter.

Our Tribe were hip to the Savoy Brown Blues Band as one of the early English Blues bands but with their recent March ’69 album release Blue Matter – which was played to the indelible point – Savoy Brown became big in our Rock vocabulary. With Kim Simmonds one of the early Hard Rock Blues Master Guitar Gods, Chris Youldon’s lyrics and truly iconic Blues vocals, and future Foghat members; Roger Earl drums, Tone Stevens bass and Lonesome Dave Peverett guitar – Savoy Brown again delivered Very Heavy Cool Shit with their July ’69 release, A Step Further. Savoy Brown Live 1969. 1960’s & 1970′s Album Track Gems A Step Further resides in the upper echelon of Rock History Archives with the one-two punch of the serious soulful blues of Life’s One Act Play and then right into the empowerment of Rock that is I’m Tired.

Savoy Brown Boogie" From: A Step Further (1969). Filling up the entire second side of Savoy Brown’s fourth album, this mammoth live number clocks in at over 22 minutes. The guys impressively never lose their way due to the tremendous guitar-work of Simmonds and Lonesome Dave Peverett and the entertaining showmanship of frontman Chris Youden. 4.
