is a 1983 album by J. J. Cale. It was his eighth since his debut in 1972. After recording five albums in the seventies, Cale moved from Nashville to California, eventually settling in a trailer park in Anaheim. He would record three albums in three years, but by the time was released, he was burned out. As Cale recalls in the 2005 documentary To Tulsa and Back, I lived out on the west coast in the sixties

Rewind - The Unreleased Recordings. Exclusive Prime pricing. Rewind - The Unreleased Recordings. We've been JJ Cale fans since the late 60's, and there's nothing else quite like his sound. If you don't know him, you certainly know some of his tunes, made famous by Eric Clapton, like "After Midnight" and "Cocaine. He classifies himself as "rockabilly," but is a consummate blues singer/songwriter with a distinctive sound. His slower tunes evoke lazy summer afternoons and dusky evenings. And his upbeat songs give a gentle drive to a mellow time.

Cale fares better on his own tunes, which unsurprisingly are of a piece with the rest of his work. Lawdy Mama (not to be confused with Crazy Mama ) is a sexy toe-tapper worthy of a frosty pint, while the steel guitar on the wistful My Baby and Me points to the country roots often overshadowed by Cale’s bluesy leanings. And despite its garish sax fills, Ooh La La epitomizes Cale at his most inspired-who else could mutter Shake it, don’t break it with such profound authority? Rewind is an unessential-albeit e to a brilliant career.

Rewind: Unreleased Recordings. The folks at Time Life would like you to think that this is a treasure box filled with forgotten gems from . It's full, all right, of tracks recorded between 1971 and 1993. But there was good reason to leave them off the albums they were recorded for.
