New York is the fifteenth solo studio album by American musician Lou Reed, released in January 1989 by Sire Records. The album received universal critical success upon release, and is widely considered to be among Reed's strongest solo efforts. It is highly regarded for the strength and force of its lyrical content; Reed stated that he required simple music so that it would not distract from his frank lyrics. The single "Dirty Blvd.

New York, New York I want to wake up in a city that never sleeps And find I'm a number one, top of the list King of the hill, a number one These little town blues, are melting away. And I'm gonna make a brand new start of it in old New York And if I can make it there, I'm gonna make it anywhere It's up to you, New York, New York. New York, New York" Track Info. Produced By Sonny Burke. Release Date June 21, 1977. Cover Of New York, New York by Liza Minnelli

Director Martin Scorsese's ambitious and lengthy movie musical New York, New York is a bittersweet love story set in the years after World War II, told against the background of the popular music business. By the end, De Niro has come up with his cool jazz signature tune, "New York, New York," which Minnelli sings in a manner again reminiscent of Sinatra (or of her mother, Judy Garland). There may already have been a good song called "New York, New York," but this one is also a classic. Not surprisingly, Sinatra himself revived it for a Top 40 hit in 1980.

It Started All Over Again. It Was a Very Good Year. New York, New York (оригинал Frank Sinatra). Нью-Йорк, Нью-Йорк (перевод Александр Федотов из Нижний Новгород).

New York, New York" quickly became one of Sinatra's signature songs. While many songs have been written about New York City, no song has captured the pride and elegance of the city quite like this one. The lyrics, "If I can make it there, I'll make it anywhere" sum up what many New Yorkers feel about their city: competition is intense, but success there is richly rewarded and very satisfying  . Released in 1980, this song came 40 years after Sinatra sang "I'll Never Smile Again" with Tommy Dorsey's band, the first hit on Billboard's newly established number-one singles chart (predecessor of the Hot 100). Jay-Z referenced this song in his 2009 hit "Empire State of Mind"
