Jonathan Winters – Jonathan Harshman Winters III was an American stand-up comedian, actor, author, and artist. Beginning in 1960, Winters recorded many classic albums for the Verve Records label. He also voiced Grandpa Smurf on The Smurfs TV series from 1986 to the conclusion in 1989. Over twenty years later, Winters was introduced to a new generation through voicing Papa Smurf in The Smurfs, Winters died nine days after recording his dialogue for The Smurfs 2, the film was dedicated in his memory

His father, Jonathan Harshman Winters II, was a banker who became an alcoholic after being crushed in the Great Depression. His parents divorced in 1932. Jonathan and his mother then moved to Springfield to live with his grandmother. There his mother remarried and became. Jonathan Harshman Winters III was born on November 11, 1925 in Dayton, Ohio.
