Garland attained international stardom as an actress in musical and dramatic roles, as a recording artist and on the concert stage. Her career spanned 45 years and she received numerous awards, including a Juvenile Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, the Cecil B. DeMille Award for her work in films, Grammy Awards and a Tony Award. She is the mother of Liza Minnelli, Lorna Luft and Joey Luft.
Judy also changed the format of her show to become a variation on what would be, the following year, her definitive concert at Carnegie Hall: Just Judy - no vaudeville format, no dancing chorus boys, just Judy in concert. This concert performed at the Olympia Theater in Paris, France was recorded on October 28, 1960 and broadcast by the radio station "Europe 1" on November 3, 1960. This CD release has a great booklet with wonderful liner notes by Lawrence Schulman, with some nice photos. The concert itself is the same as this original CD release. All images on this page from the collection of Scott Brogan. The cover of the 2005 Laserlight re-release. Orchestra conducted by Norrie Paramor Piano: Dave Lee.

Between 1963 and 1964 Judy Garland could be seen in a weekly TV special on the CBS network, and these performances, selections from which appear on this CD, differ from any others in her career. Her abilities are intact, and she has a joyous ease with her material and musical surroundings. As with recordings of her Carnegie Hall performances, she has an electrified verve when she sings in front of an audience. If there were rigors involved in these productions they don't show.
