Johann Sebastian Bach, Stockholm Baroque Orchestra ‎– Dancing Bach. Label: Proprius ‎– PRSACD 2036. Format: SACD, Hybrid, Multichannel, Quadraphonic, Album. Composed By – Johann Sebastian Bach. Ensemble – Stockholm Baroque Orchestra. Music Director – Maria Lindal.

The opening Bach Suite sounds like it was recorded in a small room. not really all that fun to listen to. The solo violin selections, like the opening suite, comes in at a distant third compared to my Pentatone SACD with Julia Fischer and a stunning rbcd of Helen Schmitt (on Alpha Productions).

Biography, Bach Discography and Photos of the artist. Rebaroque was formed in 1998 under the name of The Stockholm Baroque Orchestra, and was quickly established as one of Sweden's leading Baroque ensembles. The repertoire includes orchestral and chamber works as well as oratorios and opera.

Stockholm Baroque Orchestra. This disc comes from the enterprising Swedish company of Proprius. Its producers ask the question "How important were dancing and dance music to JS Bach?" Well, from the large number of dance forms in his instrumental and orchestral music, clearly they were very important. The best interpreters of his sacred music have realised for a long time that many of the arias and choruses in the Passions and Cantatas are also dances. In fact, I think the answer to Proprius' question would be that JSB was imbued with the dance, as were many of his Baroque contemporaries

Bach and Baroque expert Ton Koopman leads the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, giving this performance extra vigour. Central works by Bach performed by the baroque specialists from Amsterdam. Saturday 6 April 2019 1. 0. Ends approximately 1. One of the truly great Bach experts is the Dutch conductor, organist and harpsichordist Ton Koopman. He founded the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra in the late 1970s, and at this concert, together they will offer some true highlights from Bach’s enormous musical production: two orchestral suites and two of the famous Brandenburg Concertos. The first orchestral suite in D major is a wonder of exquisite adornments and delicate counterpoint. The third contains one of classical music’s most famous pieces, the sublimely beautiful Air.

A Baroque orchestra is a large ensemble for mixed instruments that existed during the Baroque era of Western Classical music, commonly identified as 1600–1750. Baroque orchestras are typically much smaller, in terms of the number of performers, than their Romantic-era counterparts.
