The following is a list of official releases by American musician Captain Beefheart. With various line-ups of musicians called The Magic Band, Beefheart released a total of 13 studio albums recorded between 1967 and 1982, after which he left music to concentrate on a career in painting, as Don Van Vliet. His catalogue has since been augmented with extra releases including an EP and various compilations of live material, studio outtakes and greatest hits releases.
Only for completionists (0%). We're only dealing with a prototype of the Magic Band here, of which only the rhythm section would survive to record the first full album, but if you're a Beefheart fan you'll probably be interested in these straight blues songs from a talent more associated with stranger fare. It's a very brief EP, so I'd only check it out if you can get it for a decent price, but anyone interested in Beefheart's pre-Trout Mask work will find value here, and if you're into mid-1960s blues-rock it can't hurt to give it a try.
Download song lyrics for album. His music blended rock, blues and psychedelia with avant-garde and contemporary experimental composition. Beefheart was also known for exercising an almost dictatorial control over his supporting musicians, and for often constructing myths about his life. You Go to My Head-110. Artists: Charlie Kohlhase. Sweet Georgia Brown-14.

His musical work was conducted with a rotating ensemble of musicians called The Magic Band, activ. ore . Year: 1984. Legendary A&M Sessions Album.
That's not to say that these two obscure mid-'60s A&M singles (packaged together on this five-song EP, which adds a previously unreleased track from the same era) aren't well worth hearing. The Captain's Howlin' Wolf-like growl led a tough outfit that ranked among the best early American blues-rock groups, and among the few that could reasonably emulate the Rolling Stones' toughness. Produced, unbelievably enough, by future Bread leader David Gates, this reissue includes their regional hit cover of Bo Diddley's "Diddy Wah Diddy.
