Karen Carpenter is the only solo album by singer/drummer Karen Carpenter of the Carpenters, recorded in 1979-80 and released by A&M Records in 1996. It has sold around 1 million copies worldwide. The album was recorded in New York with producer Phil Ramone in 1979 and 1980, during the time that her brother Richard was being treated for an addiction to Quaaludes. Some of the songs from the album were later featured on the Carpenters' 1989 compilation Lovelines and later releases.

Karen Anne Carpenter (March 2, 1950 – February 4, 1983) was an American singer and drummer who was part of the duo the Carpenters alongside her brother Richard. She was praised for her contralto vocals, and her drumming abilities were viewed positively by other musicians and critics.

Greetings Carpenters and Karen Carpenter fans. Especially for fans of Karen's solo album, there is an expansive section specially dedicated to her solo album. com. 1507772. ref 20.

For personal reasons, which have been chronicled in other sources, I needed and decided to take a leave of absence from our career in 1979. Karen, who was not interested in remaining idle during my hiatus, elected to record a solo album. We knew some things were trendy and that the intimate songs would express her love of all music. It was inconceivable to those of us involved with the project that a rumor might spread regarding the end of the Carpenters.

Richard Lynn Carpenter (born October 15, 1946) is an American musician, record producer, songwriter, and music arranger, best known as one half of the sibling duo The Carpenters alongside his sister Karen. He has had numerous roles including record producer, arranger, pianist, keyboardist, lyricist, and composer, as well as joining with Karen on harmony vocals.

Richard Carpenter, 71, was part of American vocal and instrumental duo The Carpenters in the late 1960s and 70s. In the band with his sister, Karen Carpenter, the duo develop a soft, distinct musical style, known for hits such as We’ve Only Just Begun, Top of the World and Only Yesterday. The duo’s career lasted 14 years, seeing the reveals of ten studio albums which included three number one singles. Richard Lynne Carpenter was born on 15th October 1946, with his sister Karen born in 1950. The two were both musical, with Richard set to become a lyricist, keyboardist, pianist and producer, he also joined in the harmony vocals with Karen.
