FOUR FRIENDS LIVE’ was filmed and recorded live at The Millennium Forum, Derry in May this year and features for the first time, live versions of songs from their recent successful album ‘Friends For Life’. The album and concert DVD also contain well known favourites such as ‘The Parting Glass’, ‘McAlpines Fusiliers’ and ‘The Town I Loved So Well’. Having spent the past year touring the world, the band felt this was the right time to capture this performance.
The High Kings are an Irish folk group formed in Dublin in 2008. The band consists of Finbarr Clancy, Brian Dunphy, and Darren Holden. By June 2016, the group had released four studio albums, two live albums, and two live DVDs. Their first three studio albums appeared at number three or higher on the Billboard world music chart, the first two went platinum in Ireland, and all of their albums charted in Ireland.
It was during The High Kings second tour of the US in 2011, however – having graduated from playing small venues to larger halls as they promoted their follow-up album, ‘Memory Lane’, which also crashed into Billboard’s World Music chart – that everyone involved realised the fanbase was growing into something that no one had predicted. We did a two-year tour for the ‘Friends for Life’ album, and then we put out a live show album/DVD – ‘Four Friends Live’. That was received so well that we felt a back-to-basics approach – traditional ballad songs with new arrangements – would be good.

Multi Platinum Artists The High Kings, Finbarr Clancy, Brian Dunphy, Darren Holden. Poyenburg!! One of the absolute best High Kings shows and reactions ever! What an enormous crowd and sensational response. We loved it. We can't wait to return again to Germany. You guys have made us feel so welcome for many years. 169. 28. We are looking forward to performing at Clancy Brothers Music and Arts Festival this Friday May 31st at the Strand Theatre Carrick On Suir.
Once again The High Kings were spectacular!! The High Kings bring us to a modern, high energy, high talent version of Irish music of era reminiscent of groups like The Clancy Brothers, Dubliners and Wolfe Tones. The concert has of course, several traditional Irish songs. However, they manage to dig deep to find songs we love, that many groups do not play. And manage to mix them with newer songs that are quickly becoming beloved standards. This is a group of highly talented musicians who clearly love their craft. The show is upbeat, well done and just plain fun.
