I want to touch back to when you mentioned the underground scene was all minimal. Going into it were you like, "I want to see if I can create another lane here"? 100%. I found a few artists that had made some records that really blew my mind. I was impressed by how you have nine different collaborators on the album and, even with those different inputs in the way they sound and their style, it all flows well so together. Yeah, I think that's because I'm the one telling the story and they're helping me do that. How did you choose the collaborators?
But in the back of my mind when I lay down in bed, I was just. When I hear there’s a shooting on TV, I wondered and hoped it wasn’t, you know, him. Maxo, you wanted to be a lot of things as a kid, so why did you settle on being a rapper? Kream: I done had all kinds of jobs. You know what I’m saying? Not just in the streets. I worked at Food Town, Panera Bread, firecracker stand. Tell me about recording this album in the studio together. Everybody want to glorify the streets. Me, I’m not glorifying it. I’ll tell you what happens when you jump in them.
And a good trade it was, too, as with the exception of the title track's gutsy hard rock, Lynott's singing and songwriting contributions wound up providing the album with its most coherent and satisfying moments.
The group did record one more album, Abbey Road - work on which started the following month - but by September 1969 the Beatles had unofficially disbanded. Several of the rooftop performances, particularly that of "Dig a Pony", were regarded as showing the Beatles once again in top form. Fans believed the rooftop concert might have been a try-out for a return. In the 2007 film Across The Universe, a musical made up entirely of Beatles' music, Sadie's band performs a rooftop concert in New York City which mimics the original U2 also referenced the concert in their video for "Where the Streets Have No Name", which featured a similar rooftop concert in Los Angeles, 1987.
